Foreign Languages Department
The Foreign Language Department of the Zagreb School of Economics and Management brings together mandatory English programs taught in ZSEM’s programs, as well as elective language courses such as Spanish, French, German, Italian, Russian, Arabic, Japanese, and Chinese. Among the English language courses offered are English for Economists and Business English, as well as two interdisciplinary courses taught on the second year of ZSEM’s undergraduate program which serve as a bridge between topics covered in courses of ZSEM’s Foreign Language Department and ZSEM’s Marketing Department – Business Communications and BCE Applied Research Project. Along with the Department Head, other members of the Department include Dr. Nina Tuđman Vuković, Ivanka Rajh, and others. In executing courses, this department also relies on outside associates, especially in conducting elective foreign language courses. Many of the Department members are native speakers of the languages they teach.

Ivana Bušljeta Banks, M. Sc.
Research interests of the Department Head, Professor Ivana Bušljeta Banks, include two primary areas: marketing in general and advertising, service marketing, marketing communications (on which she is currently preparing a doctoral dissertation) in particular; and social responsibility (cheating, plagiarism, and connection between these phenomenon and unethical business practices). Other members of the department, along with conducting courses at ZSEM, also take part in conferences, simultaneous or written translating and some are considered to be some of the foremost experts in these areas in Croatia. Members of the Department also actively participate in joint research projects with other members of the Department, with members of other departments within ZSEM, or with colleagues from around the world. For example, during the 2006/07 academic year, the Foreign Languages Department cooperated with the Communications Department of John Carroll University on the Employment across Cultures Project.
