About Semester at ZSEM for Groups

Does your college or university wish to send a group of students to Croatia for a semester abroad?

The Zagreb School of Economics and Management organizes a special semester abroad for educational institutions that wish to send a group of students to study abroad together. The program includes a wide selection of business and non-business courses in English, company visits, excursions and organized social activities for students.  For three consecutive years, our school has welcomed a group of undergraduate students from Meiji Gakuin University (MGU), Tokyo, to spend a semester studying at ZSEM.

The following factors will be considered when establishing a special tuition fee for a group of students from the same university:

  • size of group
  • number of additional courses (pre-semester) included
  • organized trip(s) included in fee
  • the relevant Academic Year’s tuition fee (i.e. for the 2017-2018 Academic Year: 3,500 Euro (for non-EU students) per semester / 3,150 Euro (for EU students) per semester

ZSEM provides all of its students with a high quality, interdisciplinary academic curriculum. Students will benefit from this program both in terms of enhancing their hard skills and soft skills, while gaining an in-depth understanding of business within the European context. All courses are multi-faceted, bridging theory and practice through a range of activities such as case studies, excercises , lectures, debates, projects and presentation, essays, simulations and field visits to mid-sized and large domestic and international corporations. Small study groups guarantee a high level of interaction with colleagues and professors.

Students will receive a ZSEM transcript upon successful completion of their coursework. Courses are taught from Tuesday-Friday for approximately 5 hours per day, while Mondays are reserved for quizzes and exams. Students will be supplementing some of their in-class instruction time with on-the-ground travel to key political, economic and cultural institutions in Croatia. These excursions are not mandatory, therefore, students who do not attend the excursions will be asked to complete supplemental activities/assignments. All excursions will be lead by either professors or other ZSEM professionals who will ensure a rich and stimulating experiential learning program. ZSEM offers these additional courses: Intensive Business English  & Croatian Language and Culture

Classes are taught at  ZSEM’s campus in a very safe, quiet neighborhood 5 minutes (by bus from the city center), while some MBA classes are held in one of the city center’s modern business buildings. The campus is equipped with computer labs, study areas, a cantina (cafe with food options), and plenty of outdoor space for hanging out between classes.

ZSEM’s buddy system helps to ensure a smooth acclimation for international students. Various social and cultural activities are organized throughout the semester like sports tournaments, field trips, museum and park visits and eating out in groups at local restaurants.

Company visits to various industries and sectors can be organized and will give insight into the local business culture.  Some of these companies are:

  • e-Račun
  • Atlantic Grupa
  • P&G
  • Podravka
  • Franck
  • FIVE
  • Bolfan Winery
  • Rimac automobili
  • Japanese Embassy in Zagreb

Zagreb, the capital city of Croatia, is SAFE, AFFORDABLE and has a very RICH HISTORY. The city serves as the hub of the business, academic, cultural, artistic and sporting worlds in Croatia. Upon arrival, students will get a tour of Zagreb (including the Zagreb cathedral, St. Mark’s Church, the Mirogoj Cemetery and selected museums as well as a visit to the Croatian Parliament).

ZSEM will assist with finding suitable and affordable accommodation either near ZSEM’s campus or near the downtown area of Zagreb.  Students can live in shared housing with a budget of 250-350 Euro/month, including utility costs. They can request accommodation according to their preferences and within their budgets. Additional support is also available for airport transfers, visa applications, mobile phone/ SIM card handling and organizing private travel outside of Zagreb.

More tips on accommodation can be found here: https://www.zsem.hr/en/international/exchange/incoming-students/accommodation/

Day trips can be organized, based on the group’s preferences and together with other ZSEM students, to visit Zagreb’s surroundings (i.e. Trakoscan Castle, the Krapina Neanderthal Museum, local wineries) as well as popular destinations in Croatia like Dubrovnik, Split, Pula, Plitvice Lakes National Park. A more extensive list of optional excursions can be found here: https://www.zsem.hr/en/international/short-programs/tailor-made-programs/destinations/

What students say about ZSEM?

David Coss

Its amazing and rare that one country has all the beauty in the world. I will never forget my travel experience in Croatia.

Karolina Hajman

The program also involved trips to significant companies and factories in Croatia as well as a trip to the US embassy and the Croatian Chamber of Commerce. Combining the theoretical knowledge gained from lectures and learning about the experiences companies go through has really given me a deeper vision of how negotiations are done in the true business world.

Vitor Duarte

Professors at ZSEM are great since they resort to several innovative teaching methods, and most of the times I was able to learn from their personal experiences on the market. All of these made me feel very interested in the courses I was taking at the time and made me want to go for further knowledge.

Karolina Hajman

As a participant in the 2015 Summer Negotiations program, I can really say that this program was academically and socially a real deal. The academic aspect of the program was completely fulfilling, with lectures by George Siedel from the University of Michigan and other prestigious lecturers. As the program was held during the summer, it has also given participants and myself the opportunity to travel and meet new cultures as Croatia is one of Europe’s famous summer destinations. Although the program was only a week long, I can say that I learned a lot regarding negotiations and dispute resolutions as well as meeting friends for life from around the world.

Alice Wang

I enjoyed meeting the students and interacting with them. I really got to see the different cultural aspects and meet students not only from Croatia but also from other countries around the world.

Dan Chamness

This experience was one of the highlights of my college career. I had a chance to immerse myself in a new culture, learn valuable skills, and have a great time in the process!

Kenyu Kunii

I’m having a great time, thanks to other exchange students, professors, and workers at ZSEM. I can’t thank them enough. I am sure this experience will help me in the future. Thanks again!

Yutaro Kondo

My experience here at ZSEM was one of my memorable things in my life. It was my first time coming to Europe and I surely obtained a lot which I couldn’t in Japan! I will never forget these 4 months studying here!

Yasuko Watanabe

I would recommend ZSEM to a friend because it is a good school to learn economics and business studies. Also the classes are small, so it is easier to make friends.

Kenyu Kunii

Before now, nobody came to Croatia as an exchange student from my university. So I believe it is good opportunity for me and my university. Also, there are many exchange students from different countries, so I thought it would be a good experience. I wish that many students will come ZSEM and experience good time.

Muneyuki Yaka

Rab island was so good for me because we had activities through the whole day and the hotel’s location is perfect.
