Colombian in Zagorje: I have the best neighbours in the world!
Vanessa Alexandra Quintero Morales is a Colombian who fell in love with a Croat and because of love, moved to Zagreb. With the desire to further her education, she enrolled in a graduate MBA program in Management at the Zagreb School of Economics and Management. During the study she decided to go on an exchange and spent one semester studying at Nagoya University of Commerce and Business in Japan.
Staying in Croatia, Vanessa came across the beautiful scent of lavender, a plant which delighted her and and that she had never seen until she arrived in Croatia. As Vanessa says, she only knew it as a scent in cleaning products. After graduating from ZSEM, she decided to make something of the land in Zagorje which belongs to her boyfriend’s grandparents so that it does not go to waste. Vanessa began cultivating lavender. Her plan is to sell pure, hand made domestic lavender oil overseas, including to Colombia.
ZSEM recognized the intellectual capital of its student’s idea and shared her successful story with the Vecernji List editor, which you can read (in Croatian) here.
